The first step toward independence for youth ages 8–12. This half-day course builds the confidence to stay safe at home or in public, covering 911 basics, online safety, phone rules, and self-care for minor injuries.

Who is this course for?

Brave Start is designed for children (ages 8 to 12) who are starting to stay home alone after school, walk home by themselves, or spend brief periods without direct adult supervision.

What you will learn

Our half-day safety curriculum uses interactive games and group practice to make safety skills easy and memorable.

Home Safety & Routines

Understanding house rules, locking doors, answering the phone or door, and handling kitchen/appliance safety.

Emergency Responses

How to recognize emergencies, when and how to call 911, and giving clear directions to dispatchers.

Self First Aid

How to take care of your own cuts, scrapes, nosebleeds, and minor burns, what to do if you're choking alone — and when to call an adult for help.

Internet & Street Safety

Safe online habits, keeping personal info private, and basic safety rules when walking outside.
